Suppression Division

The Brea Fire Department Suppression Division uses a 56-hour work week. Personnel work 24-hour shifts in a three platoon rotation. This division responds to:

  • Fires
  • Medical aids
  • Rescues
  • Public assists
  • Releases or potential releases of hazardous materials

The division also performs Fire Prevention Code Enforcement (including Business Emergency Plans), issuing California Fire Code permits, life safety planning, fire protection, and public safety education.

 Member Training & Certifications

All members are trained and certified in CPR, EMT-D, hazardous materials first responder, swift water rescue, confined space rescue, and the Standardized Emergency Management System based on the Incident Command System.
